1. Science-Based Exploration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) Interoperability: DUFE
BIM was designed to support all phases of a project in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry in all disciplines. However, seamless and universal interoperability is far from reality. This research sponsored by the National Science Foundation explores the scientific nature of AEC objects and develops methods that go beyond IFC standardization to enable seamless and universal BIM interoperability.

2. Building Information Modeling (BIM) Interoperability in the Cloud: DUFE, NCEPU
In the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry model-based data exchange methods are mainly based on manual file transfer, data conversion, and data-merge. File-based Building Information Model (BIM) data exchange is either in vendor specific file formats or neutral format using Industry Foundation Classes (IFC). Since BIM applications are steadily moving to the Cloud, effective Cloud-based BIM data transmission is key to the success of BIM implementation.

3. Types of Technology used on Construction Projects in the US. Tongji, DUFE, NCEPU
· Integrating the 3D BIM model from design into the construction phase of the project to include 4D Scheduling, 5D Cost, 6D Sustainability and 7D Facility Management. A project will be shown to model how this is being used on projects.
· Augmented Reality to use as visualization for a construction project.
· Drones to assist supervisors during construction and identify problems during building occupancy.
· Smart hardhats and smart tools for safety and productivity.
· And other current technology examples.
